Tuesday, May 3rd 7-8pm Independent Readers "Read To A Dog" is a great way to improve the literacy skills of children. It encourages children to read by providing non-judgmental listener in furry friends. Children will read to a dog for ten minutes. Location: Children's Room Quiet Reading Area. This new anime/manga club has had a slow start but we are looking to add more members and have lots of activities. This group will meet the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month from 2:30-3:30 in the teen zone. A local manga author, Rebecca Buffin, who has recently published several books will do a presentation at one of the June meetings. There will be prizes and signed posters from her book(s). There will be anime movie sessions and window painting sessions also planned. Interested teens and tweens can e-mail teen librarian Ellie Strbo at estrbo@mtpl.org. All are welcome to this interesting fencing demonstration presented by the students of Atlantic Fencing Academy of Tinton Falls. This historical form of fitness, also known as "physical chess," exercises both body and mind while incorporating grace and prowess. May be of particular interest to teens and tweens. |
