Since September 2012, The Job Help Center at the Middletown Township Public Library has expanded the assistance it offers those in career transition (including unemployed or underemployed individuals and recent college graduates as well as people re-entering the job market) by working with Neighbors Helping Neighbors (“NnN”), a job search support and networking group founded in January 2011.  The positive results of partnering with NhN have been dramatic.  In fact, at least 12 people attending the Middletown library NhN sessions have landed jobs since the meetings began here at the library.  That’s 12 local people hired in less than 10 months!  This success reflects the vibrant community of job seekers, library staff, and NhN leaders and meeting coordinators who have worked with diligence and optimism to help find work opportunities in the worst job market in decades.

            The Board of Trustees of the Middletown Township Public Library is pleased to announce the availability of the Conover-Wihtol Scholarship for no less than $500 for graduate study in Library Science.

            The Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Edith B. Conover and Karl F. Wihtol, both long-time residents of Middletown Township and dedicated friends to the Library.

            First consideration for eligibility will be given to residents of Middletown Township, but in the absence of qualified applicants from the Township, New Jersey residents will be considered.

            Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree or be in the final semester of undergraduate studies.  The applicant will also be expected to provide evidence of acceptance for graduate work at an ALA accredited school of Library Science.

            Application forms are available from the Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.  Completed application forms must be postmarked no later than August 16, 2013.
