What happens if I lose my library card? You can get a replacement card at the Borrower Services desk for $3.00. Stolen cards are the responsibility of the owner until reported to the library.
What happens if I don't bring my library card?
Library cards must be presented to borrow materials. If the card is not presented, a driver's license may be used and a fee of $1.00 will be charged. This fee is effective as of June 1, 2010.

Why doesn't Koha work with my AOL browser?
The AOL browser and Koha are not compatible. Koha will work with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox.
How do I check out digital audiobooks?
Click on the link for eLibraryNJ.
How do I Access the Databases?
Click on Do Research, select the database, and insert your 14 digit barcode number from your library card and your last name.
If you live or pay taxes in Middletown Township, you may become a member of the library. You can obtain a free library card just by presenting some identification with proof of your address. Children may get their own card when approved by a parent or guardian. Free membership is also available on a one year renewable basis to anyone who works or attends school in Middletown Township. Non-residents may purchase a library card for an annual fee of $75 and $25 for senior citizens.
How do I donate books?
We accept book donations one bag at a time to be dropped off at the Borrower Services Desk. The items should be slightly used and in good condition, please no textbooks or technical books.

How many times can I renew something?
Any item may be renewed up to four times as long as there are no holds.
How do I renew by phone?
For telephone renewal call the library during open hours at 732-671-3700 and choose the option for Borrower Services.
How do I renew online?
To renew online, visit the library website. Select “My Account” and enter your card number and the last four digits of your phone number. You can check titles you have out, renew titles you have out, check titles being held for pick-up, check outstanding balances, and search the Library Catalog. To avoid late fees, renewals must be completed before midnight of the due date. You will be notified if an item is not renewable. Items on HOLD for another patron may not be renewed. If no renewal date is given, the item is not renewed. Please check carefully. You may renew an item up to four times before it must be returned to the library. Phone number change? Please notify the library so we may correct your customer profile. The system will not recognize you unless our files match your information.
How do I reserve books online?
Acces the MTPL Catalog online from the library website. Select item, click on REQUEST ITEM. Click on MY ACCOUNT log in with your library card number and pin, AND click on REQUEST. The library will call or email when the item becomes available. Pick up at the Borrowers Services Desk.
How do I get a book that is not in the catalog?
Fill out a request form at the reference desk, and the item will be either borrowed from another library or purchased for our collection.
How do I know if the book is in?
When the catalog indicates that the book is checked in or on the shelving cart.
How do I tell the difference between adult and children’s books?
Children’s books, media and sound recording all have a J or E as part of their call number. Teen books call number start with Teen or YA. Adult fiction are labeled FIC and first three letters of the author's last name and non fiction start with 000.01 and up.
How do I use the catalog?
Go to our website and click on MTPL Catalog. Type your query and click on search. To narrow your search, on the right you can select the format (book, media, sound recording, etc). Just below your search you can sort by relevance, year, title and author by clicking on the drop down menu.
